About This Tool

Pomodoro Timer implements the Pomodoro Technique - a time management method using 25-minute focused work sessions separated by 5-minute short breaks, with a longer 15-minute break after every 4 sessions.

The technique was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s and named after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer he used. Research supports alternating focused work and rest to sustain concentration and reduce mental fatigue.

Work sessions, short breaks, and long break durations are all configurable. The timer plays a notification when each interval ends. Session counts reset after the long break cycle completes.
